Support Heart of the Beast Theatre in Minneapolis on February 26
posted: Tuesday, February 15th, 2011In January, about 180 of you crammed into “the castle” to raise just over $1500 for Gardening Matters‘ support of new Local Food Resource Hubs, including tool lending libraries in St. Paul, and South and North Minneapolis.
This month, come play! Your supper money will go to the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre (HOBT), a Minneapolis-based puppet and mask theater with the mission of bringing people together for the common good through the power of puppet and mask performance. Started in 1973, Heart of the Beast has grown into one of the most highly regarded puppet centers in the country. HOBT has been at the vanguard of performance that is in service to its community, melding art with themes that range from the preservation of natural resources to social justice to personal and community identity.
Its annual MayDay Parade and Festival is one of the most successful community-building events in the region [and a Minneapolis institution]. Community members are involved throughout the creative process [you too can volunteer at puppet making workshops and take part in the parade]. Education programs provide enriching, hands-on puppetry experiences to youth and adults.
You’ll feast on…
