C is for Cause
Your supper money will support Minnesota Reading Corps, a statewide program that places tutors across Minnesota to help struggling young readers, from preschoolers up to third grade. Today, nearly one in five third graders in Minnesota is failing to reach basic levels of literacy. If kids don’t read well by the end of third grade, odds are stacked against them for future learning.
Through the Reading Corps, AmeriCorps members use research-based early literacy tools and give students individual attention so they can become successful readers. Now in over 500 sites [Head Start centers, preschools, and elementary schools], Minnesota Reading Corps hopes to place over a thousand tutors in over 600 sites in the upcoming school year, 2012-2013.
All are welcome, but please RSVP here. Thanks in advance for your RSVP.
