Standing against racial inequity
posted: Friday, November 20th, 2015Standing for equity also means standing against inequity.
Eat For Equity hopes to build a more equitable world, and that means standing against racism at home.
We stand in solidarity with our community in demanding justice and answers in the recent shooting death of Jamar Clark. We stand with our neighbors seeking systemic and lasting change to racial inequities in our state.
Our fellow citizens stand in peaceful protest and in the cold, fighting for us all. We’ll support them in the way we know we best – with food. Eat for Equity will be bringing food from Saturday’s feast to the 4th Precinct.
We encourage our community to show up. Join in a rally and vigil led by the NAACP today [Friday] at 4:30 pm. For our city to feel peace, our neighbors need to know they they are heard and cared for, and that black lives matter in Minneapolis. It’s our responsibility and privilege to stand with our neighbors.
We encourage you to give what you can. We support MN Neighborhoods Organizing for Change (NOC), Black Lives Matter Minneapolis, the NAACP, and Voices For Racial Justice. Consider making a donation to these organizations and other community-led organizing to support racial justice. The community is also asking for blankets, gloves, hats, wood, and warm beverages.
