Minneapolis E4E: Saturday, May 21
posted: Monday, May 2nd, 2011This May, come on trail. Your supper money will go to the Emily Sandall Foundation, and its camper scholarship to help a deserving young person experience a wilderness trip. While she lived, our friend Emily’s passion was working with youth, whether with street kids in Mexico and Nepal, or American teens in the wilderness. Emily died in 2006 while hiking in Yosemite, but her family continues her work and spirit with a foundation in her name, which supports organizations with a common mission of helping underprivileged youth. The foundation established a camper scholarship at YMCA Camp Menogyn, where Emily was a wilderness guide (and where she jumped in the lake, fully clothed, on countless occasions). An important criteria for the scholarship recipient is a passion for helping others through community service.
