Whirlwinds and Pivots 4.9.20

As it has been across the globe, the past three weeks have been a whirlwind at Eat for Equity and Eat for Equity Catering.

In addition to the world news around Covid 19, Eat for Equity had a pre-scheduled kitchen move on April 1, which would settle us into our expanded culinary project, Co Kitchen. Emily managed the move with a skeleton crew, keeping the majority of staff at home so they could safely continue state-ordered social distancing and shelter-in-place protocols. What would ordinarily have been a stressful week was manifold so, but it feels good to be in our own kitchen space now, minimizing the contact with others we may have had in a shared kitchen space.

As some of you may or may not know, our newest, upcoming project Co Kitchen, is in conjunction with DuNord Craft Spirits, the country’s first black-owned distillery. In light of the pandemic, DuNord has also shifted gears, and has teamed up with Tattersall Distilling and Brother Justus Whiskey Company, to make hand sanitizer that they are distributing for a suggested donation. Their goal is to donate 65% of the sanitizer they produce free of charge for organizations in need.

The All Hands project makes Eat for Equity that much more proud to be partnering with such a progressive, forward-thinking business, and we so look forward to the day that the Co Kitchen team will be serving delicious food, inspired by the black Minnesota experience, to their cocktail room.

In the meantime, we will continue our efforts to provide you, our community, with excellent, nourishing food for curbside pickup, taking into account your dietary needs and preferences. Thank you for supporting Eat for Equity, as we continue to support you and your community.

We will continue to keep you updated, and we look forward to hearing your feedback about this week’s meals. We can’t wait to be cooking for you again next week!
